I didn't see it happen, since these days I pretty much buy WWE PPVs only when I'm guaranteed quality for money, and for me "quality" means Jericho not jobbing to Cena for the second month in a row. Since that was pretty much guaranteed, I figured I'd skip this one. Even so, I heard this morning that Hardy won.

Thoughts?

On one hand I think it's about time, Hardy's been there or there abouts for MONTHS now and they had to FINALLY put the belt on him and see how it works, so on one hand I'm quite interested to see how he'll do.

On the other hand, I really have no strong emotion one way or another for Jeff Hardy. I know a lot of girls love him and a lot of guys pop for him but to me? He's meh! He can't really talk, all he does is get beaten down and then hit two high-risk spots and win... really I can take him or leave him. I'd rather that Trip's have gotten the belt back honestly but hey, who knows, maybe this is Jeff's big shot. Maybe he'll finally make a believer out of me.

The funniest thing about it all though? PWI recognise the WWE World and the WWE Heavyweight (or whatever you want to call it, the one they just call the "WWE Title") as World Heavyweight Championships... but not the ECW Title. Matt Hardy has dreamt about being a World Champion since he was a kid, I think Jeff Hardy just went along with it because he thought it was fun. And now Jeff Hardy is wearing supposedly the "richest prize in the business" and Matt Hardy is wearing......... that belt that probably means less than the IC title (which Jeff has held half a dozen times).

If you were Matt Hardy, how much would you hate your little brother right now? :lol:

I've been waiting a long-ass while to see them put the belt on him once, just to see how everything goes.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be an interesting title journey ...

When Jeff screwed up earlier this year I thought they would never put the belt on him. I'm glad it finally happened. WWE screws up on its own logic whether the ECW is a World title or not. They claim it is but treat it like the European title at times. When Chavo was ECW champ he appeared in the Royal Rumble so right there it's not counted as a World title since people are competing for the top belt of their choosing. But when Matt won it it's counted as his first ever world title win by himself and wwe.

As far as I'm concerned the last ECW WORLD champion was Rhino.

You are actually correct, as far as PWI are concerned anyway. Rhino is the last ECW Champion recognised by them as a World champion, since ECW doesn't have it's own brand and just works within RAW and Smackdown then PWI don't count it. Which makes sense to me. Plus, as you said, they don't treat it like a World title.
