[It’s the middle of the night. Club Hel is full of life. Filled with vibrant color and the rhythmic vibrations of music. It is amazng how different the setting is when you’re not thrown into it randomly. Efinn could actually make sense of what was going on this time as Avon leads the way through the club. Despite things being clearer than his last visit, it was still a strange place. People dressed in a large variety of ways. Some wearing barely anything at all. Some look like they’re ready for a nerve gas terrorist attack while others look like they’re ready to go to the each. All in the same place, deep underground, in a smoke filled industrial complex. So deep a subway line runs near by.]
Jacob: That’s important.
Efinn Rox: I know I just recently learned about Halloween so I don’t have complete knowledge on it, but I thought it was over.
[He shouts the line while walking closely behind Avon. Almost too close but it couldn’t be helped. In a different setting it would look like Efinn was angrily screaming into his hear. In this place Efinn’s voice is like a whisper.]
Avon Deiter: In Hel there are no costumes. There is no idea of dressing up. You come as you truly are. There is no concept of Halloween. You dress up like a soldier on a base, I dress up like a man with money. And yes, Halloween was over a while ago.
[They push through the sea of moving bodies.]
Avon Deiter: Which reminds me, what makes you a soldier Efinn. Is it something other people tell you to sell a few more items on the PDW online store, a gimmick to make you more interesting or is it something you actually know.
Efinn Rox: Something I actually know…I think.
Avon Deiter: We should continue this conversation up stairs.
[And that is where they go. Efinn notices that a defined sense of gender separation has a limited existence here. Why does Avon come here so much. Why do so many take notice of Efinn here.]
Jacob: Two things. One, you one of the two only humans that freely walk through here. Two, that name you carry. You’re among programs and that name makes you light up brighter than the Sun. They see you, and in time you will see them.
[The setting has changed. Avon’s favorite room. He usually gets it since he is such a loyal customer.]
Efinn Rox: As strange as everyone dresses here, they seem to look at me strangely when I dress as most other people would.
Avon Deiter: Here the normal stand out. We’re strange. It also doesn’t help that we’re the only two humans in this place.
[Avon casually takes a sip from his bluish drink. Efinn processes the comment in his head and replays it in his head several times. He analyzes it in great detail, breaking the audio down to its syllables. He can almost visualize the actually sound wave as his mind breaks it apart and the color of his eyes turn ice blue. After thoroughly analyzing the data he can only generate one response.]
Efinn Rox: What?
Avon Deiter: We’re the only two humans here Efinn. I feel comfortable telling you that. Your calm reaction to the statement says a lot. That’s part of the reason why I am interested in you.
[He takes another sip and clears his throat.]
Avon Deiter: A normal person would be laughing because I’m joking. They’d kmock me for making a silly statement like that. They would think I’m crazy and leave. They would believe me perhaps and freak out. Run away scared. You accepted it because you knew it was already true. Look out onto the main floor.
[He points toward the plexiglass window. Efinn looks in that direction.]
Avon Deiter: Lycans, Vampires, Ghosts, Aliens, Angels Demons, Faeries, Elves whatever you want to call them and categorize them. They can’t touch me because of my money and influence. They can’t touch you because they refuse to. They won’t. All because of the name Inferno. A human who stumbles into Club Hel by accident usually ends up dead. You survived and left on your own.
Efinn Rox: I can see what you claim to see. It is not the rife I want to live.
Avon Deiter: So that’s why you left STN and applied for the job of protecting me.
[Efinn nods.]
Avon Deiter: Even though you still affect everything around you. You’re practically a beacon. They say weird [DJ Scratch] has always followed Inferno around. You’re that guy now. You’re the one.
Efinn Rox: I only have his name and he can have it back.
Avon Deiter: You have a lot more than that. You have his legacy and it’s following you like a creepy Kid in a horror movie. My company seems to be interested in that.
Efinn Rox: They can have it.
Avon Deiter: If only it was that easy.
[He finishes the drink.]
Avon Deiter: You should stop trying to ignore it and go along for the ride. The world can be an interesting place, if you let it be.
Efinn Rox: I don’t mind if the world is boring and predictable. I just want my memory back.
[Efinn snaps out of it. He’s in a car. In the drivers seat. His foot is on the break. He’s griping the steering wheel tightly. He looks at the BMW on the leather wrapped steering wheel. It’s a 7-series, the big BMW. The interior is black with wood inserts. The exterior matches it accordingly. The windows are heavily tinted as well. Overall it’s a mean looking vehicle with governments plates. Efinn looks at the time. Two hours had passed since he last checked. He looks at himself in the rear view mirror. His eyes are red, then suddenly change to amber as he looks away. He sees another vehicle parked outside an old apartment building. He recognizes it. A brand new Pontiac G6 painted black. There’s a large van parked behind it. He recognized that too. These vehicles belonged to STN. He exits the vehicle which suddenly moves forward. He hops back in and puts his weight on the brake pedal again. He looks around. He knows what to do. He puts it in park and shuts off the engine. An alarm goes off. He looks around the steering wheel and figures out how to turn off the lights. His hands are on autopilot, the memory from his muscle somehow telling him what to do when leaving a car. He takes out the ignition remote and remembers to hold on to it. He leaves the vehicle and looks around. The air is colder. The wind has picked up. The moon is in a different position.]
Jacob: Why would you notice that of all things?
[Still holding the remote, he closes the car door. The alarm sets on its own. He looks at the license plate but doesn’t know which agency it’s from. He walks quickly toward the building. He knows there is an operation going on. Suddenly he hears gun fires and screaming. There’s a flash and the distinct sound of a small bomb going off. He can see flashes of light through the windows of an upper floor. One of the windows is blown out. He sees someone he recognizes. His eyes focus on the person. His mind brings up information on the person. His facial pattern matches up with someone he knows. Joey.]
Efinn Rox: What have they gotten you into?
[Efinn bolts for a door. Right before he reaches it the scene stops. A picture of a blonde haired man with spiky hair appears. He’s performing a front kick which breaks an object.]
Jacob: Yakuza kick. A classic Inferno move. Can be used to break certain objects and get to previously inaccessible areas.
[The scene resumes. Efinn kicks through the door and it goes flying into the darkness. Efinn enters the building and disappears.]
[A long deserted living room. A little furniture fills the empty space. All of it covered with sheets. Sheets covered by dust. Joey, the young employee of STN hides behind a couch, his gun is drawn. He holds onto the small jewel which hangs from his chain. He seems to pray. Another man is in the room. He seems very young, someone in their mid teens. Very pale, sickly looking. Dressed in all white. It wears a hoodie with a very deep hood that hides most of its face. A platinum colored chain hangs from its collar. Its hands resemble claws, its feet resemble something similar. Socialized enough to wear pants but no shoes. A Nobody. Specifically Inferno’s. the old one. These were the ones he controlled. Joey takes a deep breath and rises quickly from behind the couch. He fires away at the strange thing. No way it could be human, it certainly didn’t act like one. Especially since it didn’t seem injured. Instead it twitches and lounges forward. It flips the couch back and knocks it onto Joey who goes down and is subsequently crushed by it. The Hoodie stands over him and raises its hand. It flattens the hand and makes it straight like a blade with it’s sharp nails pointed directly at Joey’s face. Joey looks scared and his life starts to flash before his eyes.]
[Suddenly a boot appears on the face of Joey and presses against it. Efinn Rox uses his face as a launching point and leaps into the air. Efinn drives his knee into the face of the enemy. It’s knocked off the couch and falls backward. Efinn lands on the floor and slides along it. He pivots on one foot and spins around into an R-15 kick which connects with the hidden face of the Nobody. It slams against a wall and falls to the floor. Efinn walks toward the couch and steps on an end of it which forces it to tip forward again back into a normal position. Joey gasps for air as he looks into Efinn’s red eyes. The Nobody stands up holding a gunblade. Efinn hears the cocking of the gun and turns around. A vertical red line runs across his eyes as he turns. The Nobody fires at him and Efinn flinches. The bullets hit a metallic object and make the appropriate clang sound as they strike against it. Whatever it is it hovers in the air just in front of Efinn. He grabs it and spins around. Sound of a revving engine. A sword appears in his hand as he strikes with the sword. The word deflect appears above his head as he makes contact with a bullet. Suddenly the bullet hits the Nobody in the hand and he drops the gunblade. The body appears to actually be shocked as its mouth opens slightly and stays that way. A strange sound can be heard briefly as Efinn Rox appears right in front of the Nobody. Efinn seems to be holding something next to it and strikes with the sword he’s holding. The Nobody is cut diagonally across the chest and stumbles back. It falls to the floor.]
Joey: What the hell are these things?
Efinn Rox: I don’t know but you’re in over your head. You’re under prepared.
Joey: And you seem to be well prepared.
[Joey looks down. Efinn looks down at his hands. The weapons he’s holding. In his right is a large heavy sword with some sort of engine in between the hilt and the actual blade. In his right hand is a spear. Gun fire can be heard coming from other rooms. Efinn looks around with his sky blue eyes. He can almost see what’s happening in the other rooms.]
Efinn Rox: Libra.
[He knows the young woman from STN is there and she’s surrounded but two enemies. Efinn takes the spear and throws it at the wall in their direction. It goes through the wall and flies into the other room. It goes through the air and pierces through the chest of another Nobody and pins it against wall. Joey looks at Efinn and he becomes even more shocked with what he sees. Efinn’s hair is completely white.]
[The last surviving enemy walks toward his ally. As it does so Efinn Rox appears holding now grasping the spear. He strikes at the Nobody with the Engine Sword and knocks it back and to the ground. He looks at the young woman.]
Woman: Thank God you showed up.
[Joey comes running into the room.]
Joey: Where the hell did they go?
[All three look around. There is no sign of their enemies.]
Woman: I have never seen anyone like that.
Joey: They weren’t human, no way.
Woman: What the hell were they doing here?
Efinn Rox: What the hell am I doing here?
Joey: What?
Efinn Rox: I don’t how I got here. Just woke up in a car outside and came into the building when I saw you through a window.
[There’s a long moment of silence between the three of them.]
Woman: There’s obviously a lot going on here. Let’s secure the area and figure out things from there.
[The scene stops and shatters to reveal the laughing man logo. The camera zooms out. It covers the face of a man. The icon flickers and disappears. Efinn’s face is revealed. Efinn Rox stands in front of the interview set. He appears to be lost in thought. Recent events replay in his head. Now he had to be a wrestler.]
Efinn Rox: I run from your life and it grabs at me. It will not let me go. It is trying to make me into you. I am starting not to like you. I don’t want to be Inferno. Anymore
[He looks at the camera.]
Efinn Rox: So much has changed in such a short time. Actually it feels like it has been a while since I last did this. This country I live in elected its new leader. Even though I could not vote I agree with their choice. The economy is still bad the world seems to be experiencing a slow down. PDW itself seems to be affected by this. Companies consolidating their assets in order to save and weather the storm. PDW unifying its title belts because, well the competition has decreased in numbers. However I remain along with a loyal few to compete against each other to see who is the best. The Championship I hold is on the line against Another. Champion versus Champion. Whoever wins walks out with everything. NBT versus Cyber Champion. It is fitting in a way. I have a chance to win back my first Championship in PDW. Now that I think about it I was never given a rematch to it when I first lost it. To unify both title belts would be the summing up of my PDW career. I was the first Cyber Champion and only lost it because of Kindred London, who knew he wasn’t adequate enough to beta me on his own and had help. His title reign didn’t last long, which was not a surprise to me. I went on to become the NBT Champion. Now I’m here, a two time NBT Champion getting ready to face the current Cyber Champion. Tomoko Hanahara.
Efinn Rox: All the ingredients to make it match of the night. It will be a great match. A very hard fought battle, at least on my part. To achieve victory and win back everything I have fought for here will probably take a lot. I am willing to give it my all to win back the Cyber Championship. I was the first for a reason. A reason that may have been forgotten but I’ll try to remind myself along with everyone else. Back when I knew no limits to myself and looked toward the top as a goal, the Cyber Championship was the first step. I’ve come closer. The Platinum Champion had to cheat and get help just to stop me in my match against him. Through his inability I know how good I can be. Tomoko Hanahara will know this as well. I’ll teach her once the match begins. What she will learn is up to her. What she will get from me above all else is her defeat.
Efinn Rox: I know you’re good. I refuse to underestimate you. That’s what will make this worth it. A victory I can feel proud of. Something I haven’t had in a while. The competition is waning. There are only a few bright spots left. In this match people will see what PDW was like. Tomoko Hanahara your title reign will end as soon as you get Efinn Rocked. You screw up and my reign will continue on. All else must go as followed. I’m actually preparing for this match. Can you believe it? No one can. Let us give people something to care about again.
[End.]
